My husband is from Puerto Rico and his dream is to take our family to the island and show us all of the beautiful sites he grew up with. We would have loved to have gone this summer, but with a family of six it is just too expensive.
An alternative however is to plan for next summer, which means… family vacation budgeting. So, where do we begin? The first thing that needs to be decided is, just what kind of vacation do we want to have in Puerto Rico next summer. We know we will be spending time with family, but what else do we want to do? Now is the time to hold a family meeting and get everyone’s input on what they want planned for our vacation.
Next is the most important step…SAVE MONEY! We can do this by looking for coupon codes and internet specials, especially for the things the kids will want to do. Once we have costs estimated, we will need decide how much to put away each pay check, in order to have the amount of money we need saved by next summer.
Consolidated credit offers a great vacation planning worksheet that, will aid in helping to reach our financial goals for our family vacation. As I browse through Consolidated Credit, I also see that they offer a variety of other helpful financial tools including debt consolidation. So not only can we get help planning for our family vacation, but we can also get help planning for our financial future as well.
The Glamorous WAHM would love your input as to how to save for a family vacation an any tips on traveling with small children.
