Start Speading The News! There is a duck heading to New York City and he’s leavin’ today! A little duck from the Prairies has a big dream – making it to New York City and doing his ducky dance on broadway!
I recently had the opportunity to review A Duck in New York City from The Secret Mountain, publishing group. Let me tell you it was a hit at my house! My three year old son has never settled in so quickly to have a book read to him. He slept with it for days after we received it.
From the site: An original work by well-known singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor that tells the story of a little prairie duck with a big idea – making it on Broadway. It’s a long shot, and New York’s very far away. Luckily, a truck-driver named Big Betty comes along, offers him a ride, and gives him that extra little boost he needs to fulfill his dream!
A Duck in New York City comes with a 12 song CD to compliment the story. My toddler loves to listen to this while driving. He even sings along! It really makes for a peaceful ride. He’s usually screaming wanting to get out of his car seat! A few of our favorite songs from the CD are: A Duck in NYC, Belly Button, Slug Opera, and I Love Tomatoes.
The Secret Mountain’s titles have won prestigious awards and as I read and listen to the CDs that go along with the books, I know why. This is one of the most unique book concepts I have ever come across. As quiet as it’s kept, I’ve enjoyed these books as much as my toddler!
WIN IT!
Enter to win A Duck in New York City by telling me what your nighttime reading ritual is with your child(ren). Does your child have a favorite book they like to read over and over again? Do you have a favorite book that you read to them? And, if you haven’t established a nightime reading ritual with your child(ren), tell me how A Duck in New York City could help you to do so. Good Luck!

I love reading with the kiddos and we also have reading quiet time as a family…we love books, and love the adventures- I read to the young and the older..its just a fun time bundled together. This would be fun to read together and for them to read to me.
Sounds like a wonderful book to read together. We read a lot. My child’s favorite is a book right before I turn the lights out. We all snuggle up in the bed a read.
Whenever I have the opportunity to read my grandchildren a book I do. Usually I do it at nap time and get them all comfy cozy and read them to sleep!
Thanks, this book sounds wonderful!
My little girl and I read every night in her bed or the living room while cuddling.
we read a chapter or so each night
I love books. Reading a story before bed was a ritual when I was younger and I intend to do it with my children as well. I’d like to win this book for a friend’s little girl who loves to read.

Our night time ritual for reading actually falls on my husband’s shoulders as it is one of the few things he can help out with when he gets home from work. He reads a book to our 5 year old complete with voices and silly sound effects. Our nine year old we have now started to read a chapter from a book each night. Right now we are working on Charlotte’s Web.

When my son was smaller we read together each night for about 30 minutes before he went to bed. We read many books but one of his favorites we read many times was Charlottes Web…..
I read to my kids every night. We all love it.
Daddy does bedtime here. Each of the little ones gets to pick a book for him to read. They generally pick a different one each night. My oldest daughter reads to herself in bed for about an hour before going to sleep. I think we’ve taught her well.

my nephew is reading this for school
After they are all tucked in, I sit in the hall and read a chapter book to the kids. This allows them to use their imagination to “see” the story and puts pleasant thoughts into their heads as they drift off to bed. During the day, we cuddle up and read picture books together and talk about the previous night’s reading.

We read a story every night before bedtime to our daughter.
I have two Godchildren that I spend about a month a year with. They both love their special time reading with me. They each get to pick out a book of their choice and we read them together. When they were younger then I would read it to them but now that they are a bit older, we each take turns reading a page.
Thank you for another great giveaway.
I read to my 3 year old at least 2 hours a day. He doesn’t care much about toys, but he has to have his books. He sleeps with his books. His favorite story is called Peccorino. I like The Bear Snored On. We read every evening from 8- 8:30.
