Start Speading The News! There is a duck heading to New York City and he’s leavin’ today! A little duck from the Prairies has a big dream – making it to New York City and doing his ducky dance on broadway!
I recently had the opportunity to review A Duck in New York City from The Secret Mountain, publishing group. Let me tell you it was a hit at my house! My three year old son has never settled in so quickly to have a book read to him. He slept with it for days after we received it.
From the site: An original work by well-known singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor that tells the story of a little prairie duck with a big idea – making it on Broadway. It’s a long shot, and New York’s very far away. Luckily, a truck-driver named Big Betty comes along, offers him a ride, and gives him that extra little boost he needs to fulfill his dream!
A Duck in New York City comes with a 12 song CD to compliment the story. My toddler loves to listen to this while driving. He even sings along! It really makes for a peaceful ride. He’s usually screaming wanting to get out of his car seat! A few of our favorite songs from the CD are: A Duck in NYC, Belly Button, Slug Opera, and I Love Tomatoes.
The Secret Mountain’s titles have won prestigious awards and as I read and listen to the CDs that go along with the books, I know why. This is one of the most unique book concepts I have ever come across. As quiet as it’s kept, I’ve enjoyed these books as much as my toddler!
WIN IT!

We read three books every night. She picks, Dad and I alternate reading.
Reading a book at bedtime is a great way to settle everyone down, while establishing a love of reading at the same time. Charlotte’s Web is a favorite.
We read a different book each night.
With my grandchildren living here I now get to read them a story and tuck them in for the night. I just love it!
Thank you so much!
I’m a subscriber.
Any Curious George book!
With our little ones, we read from “The Book of 365 Stories”!
We flip flop whose bedroom we’re reading in each night and the kids each pick one book that they’d like me to read.
A book like this would help me with a nighttime reading ritual — I like that it takes place in NYC — we have family there so it would make some of the locales familiar to her.
my son loves books and we should get back into reading at bedtime…
